Sorry to hear about David Bloom. A real pro.

Interesting piece today in The Guardian about US media companies' political donations. The accompanying chart makes for good reading too, pointing up the distinction between hard and soft money donations, as well as the difference between contributions by the organisation itself - and its proprietor - and by employees.

Given the current round of debate about the FCC's role in media regulation; the complex relationship between media legislation, war coverage and political donations is well worth exploring..

NOW with Bill Moyers on PBS is planning a show this Friday on the whole topic of media ownership, convergence and regulation. (Thanks to Poynter's excellent Convergence Chaser for the heads up).

David Folkenflik at the Baltimore Sun has been writing some good stuff recently on Fox, the other cable networks and "patriotic reporting".

This piece, particularly, paints a pretty vivid picture, and even if you've never watched Fox, you get the idea.
