The Bush-Cheney team are ramping up their offensive against Kerry over taxes, sensing that he will be vulnerable on anything that portrays him as their favourite bogey-person, a "Massachusetts-tax-n-spend-liberal".

And it seems they're trying to get their retaliation in first, specifically targeting gas taxes, which promise to be a key indicator through the summer.

Kerry himself was headed to the hospital for shoulder surgery.

Bush, meanwhile, appeared at a $1.5m fundraiser in Washington DC.

A parade a liberal hotshots helped kick off the Air America radio network, with Al Franken's show ("The O'Franken Factor") wasting no time laying out the terms of engagement.

While we're on the air, Nancy Pelosi, interviewed on Neil Cavuto's show the other day came up with a nice comeback that slipped through the cracks.

"My favorite line in one of the songs we all sing, "Oh, beautiful for patriot's dream that sees beyond the years." I don't think that this administration is looking beyond the years. I think it's very shortsighted, very special interest and moneyed interest-oriented..."
